TP-Link is keeping pace with the latest technology by introducing its new Wi-Fi 7 products. Currently, two models of the Deco mesh Wi-Fi 7 series and four models of the Archer Wi-Fi 7 router series are available on the TP-Link website, with two of them designated as “new” rather than “coming soon.
In this article
What is wifi 7 technology?
You may not have yet experienced the high speeds offered by Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E router products, but soon Wi-Fi 5 technology will be considered outdated and left behind by two generations. So, what exactly is the 7th generation of Wi-Fi technology, and how does it differ from the previous Wi-Fi 6/6E standards.
You can uncover more details about this wifi 7 technology which is just around the corner from networking vendors such as Qualcomm or other sources and as a nutshell the following table will gives you a better insight about this new wifi 7 relating to the previous wifi 6/ 6e standards. However, there are few significant advanced technology improvements applied to this next generation of wifi-7 standards including wider channel bandwidth 320MHz, MLO supports, and bands seamless switching.
MLO Technology
Another significant distinction lies in the multi-link operation (MLO) support for allwifi 7 products including these Deco and Archer series. MLO support allow the system to enable simultaneous connections across multiple bands, including the aggregation of 5GHz and 6GHz bands.
On the other hand, the ultimate Wifi 6 or Wifi 6E products offered by TP-Link such as Archer axe16000 wifi 6e router, and also its competitor Asus Rog Rapture GT-axe16000 router, lack the ability to connect with aggregated bands, making Wifi 7 products winning the game in terms of speed and performance.
For example later when your latest mobile devices support wifi 7 standards with three radio bands support, they can connect both 5GHz and 6GHz bands aggregately for blast speed and perform much better.
Thanks to aggregated bands, Wifi 7 systems can double the speeds than wifi 6 / wifi6e / wifi 5 products that can connect only one band at a time. These wifi 7 products can take advantage of the combined bandwidth.
Seamless Switching
All the new TP-Link wifi 7 products both Deco and Archer series; offer support for multiple SSIDs on each band in connecting to compatible wifi 7 devices. They offer support for multiple SSIDs on each band. However, there is a notable distinction in the way compatible Wifi 7 connected devices handle the concurrent connection to multiple SSIDs, along with the added feature of aggregated bands seamlessly to multiple SSIDs while taking advantage of the benefits of aggregated bands, resulting in a smoother and more efficient wireless experience.
6GHz band
The wifi 6e is the enhancement version of wifi 6 standards, it’s like the ‘wave 2’ of wifi 6 standards with the addition of 6GHz radio band in addition of general 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio bands. You can notice that the next generation of wifi 7 standards include 6GHz radio band as wifi 6e does. However, wifi 7 double the channel bandwidth support (320MHz) instead of 160MHz as offered by wifi 6e.

So when you have wifi 6e router in place such as ultimate tplink archer axe16000 and asus rog rapture gt-axe16000, it seems like tasting the future of wifi 7 router knowing that both wifi 6e and wifi 7 come with 6GHz radio band.
However, the other standard parameter features like maximum data streams, maximum bandwidth per stream, and maximum channel bandwidth are double as opposed to wifi 6/6e standards. And the best part is the maximum speed / bandwidth theoretically can reach up to 5 times as wifi 6/6e.
See more spec comparison details between wifi 6/6e and next generation of wifi 7 standards on the following table.

What products are currently showcased in tp-link website, and couple of them are available in Amazon and Best buy you may pre-order today.
Deco Wifi 7 Series
Currently tp-link introduces two models of mesh wifi 7 routers i.e. deco be95 and deco be85in additions of archer wifi 7 routers. Today you can pre-order deco be95 and also archer be900 in Amazon or Best buy and those two products will be available next march 2023 or later.
To me it’s like a dream when it was the first time I implemented wifi network in mining projects in the middle of the jungle for outdoor point to point for connecting office buildings and it worked with the backbone speed of up to 11Mbps just to provide computer networks to allow them access the exchange server and mining software modules. And today you can imagine the theoretical wifi-6 speed is up to Gigs speed, hundreds times as fast as the one few decades ago. I am really astonished knowing that the wifi revolution is greatly improved fast.
And wifi 7 products will be delivering technical speeds up to 40Gbps, and see that tplink with its first wifi 7 products will deliver speeds up to 11,520Mbps in single 6 GHz band.
Deco Be95 vs Deco Be85
Deco be95 is a quad band with two @6GHz bands, but be85 is tri-band. Take a look at the signal rates row, the @6ghz band delivers speed up to 11520Mbps and @5GHz band does up to 8640mbps. What a speed. And each band can support 4×4 data streams to reduce network latency if your connected devices support mu-mimo as well. What is the benefit of having 4×4 mu-mimo technology in each band?
With 4×4 mu-mimo it will increase throughput since the router will communicate with four devices at the same time which can result in a significant increase in overall throughput. This will reduce transfer time, faster download and upload speed for all devices connected to the network.
Increased throughput
4×4 mimo will also improve reliability; this will reduce the chances of data collisions and improves the reliability of the wireless connection, and will enhance the user experiences for faster and more consistent Wi-Fi speeds, even when multiple devices are connected to the network.
Tplink deco be95 and 85 with 4×4 MU-MIMO can provide increased throughput, improved reliability, better coverage, and an enhanced user experience.
Today you can find few wifi 6/6e adapter products available in the market you may install to upgrade your legacy wifi adapters to deliver optimal data throughput with less latency in connecting to either deco be95 or be85. You may also consider popular products with wifi 6e, Google Nest pro wifi 6e vs Deco xe75 pro.
Multi-Gig Wired Connections
Multi-gig Ethernet ports are becoming increasingly common in Wi-Fi routers, both for LAN and WAN connections. Commonly the 2.5Gbps is most common multi-gig ports applied to wifi routers, and today you can find few models of wifi 6/6e routers come with 10Gbps ports such as tplink deco xe200 and Orbi rbke963 the first quad band mesh wifi router. and the next generation of wifi 7 products mostly come with 10Gbps ethernet ports either for wan or lan connection.
With 10Gbps for lan connection you can connect to other high-speed devices on the network, such as servers, storage devices, and switches for reliable and fast connections. For WAN connections, 10Gbps Ethernet port can be used to connect to high-speed internet services, such as fiber optic or cable Internet.
So why 10Gbps, for cable internet subscriber is there any cable provider offer multi-gig internet plan up to 10Gbps? As far as I concerned, this 10Gbps wan port is to welcome the next generation of DOCSIS 4.0 that supports multi-gig up to 10Gbps internet connection. DOCSIS 4.0 is designed to take advantage of the latest advancements in cable modem and network technology to provide a more efficient and higher-speed internet experience. DOCSIS 4.0 is the next generation of cable Internet technology that provides faster and more reliable internet speeds, improved efficiency, enhanced reliability, and improved security.
Take a look at the following spec comparison table between these deco be95 and deco be85; just the main specs to list on it.

Deco Be95 vs Orbi Rbk963
While the Deco BE95 still has a steep price point, when compared to top-of-the-line products such as Netgear’s Orbi rbke963, it is actually considered reasonably priced. Let us take a closer look at the comparison between the Deco BE95 and the Orbi RBK963, as presented in the detailed specification comparison table below.

Triple Speeds
Both the Deco BE95 and the Orbi RBK963 are quad-band, however, the WiFi technology they use differs in generation, resulting in varying speeds based on the technology applied to the product. It’s noteworthy that the total combined bandwidth of the Deco is three times that of the Orbi, with the latter being only one-third as fast.
When you examine the Ethernet Ports row, you’ll observe that the Deco is equipped with more robust multi-gig ports compared to the Orbi. Unlike the Deco, the Orbi distinguishes between the router and satellite units, resulting in varying port configurations. The Orbi router boasts 10Gbps ports, but the satellite does not. On the other hand, each unit of the Deco can be used interchangeably as a router or satellite, making it a versatile option.
Backhaul link
From a communication standpoint between nodes, Deco and Orbi differ in their backhaul link design. Orbi prioritizes dedicated 5GHz band backhaul and offers the option of wired Ethernet backhaul, while Deco utilizes its advanced WiFi 7 MLO technology for a more dynamic approach. This results in a higher combined wireless and wired backhaul aggregation rate, as all bands and the wired connection work together harmoniously.

Now, let’s see the other wifi 7 router series introduced by TP-Link with its Archer series.
Archer Wifi 7 Series
In addition of its Deco wifi 7 series as discussed above, TP-Link has unveiled four series of its latest Wi-Fi 7 routers under its Archer series line, with one already available for pre-order. To help you understand the differences between each series, we’ve created a handy comparison table that highlights the key specifications. Allow us to briefly summarize the main features of each Archer series in the table below.

All four series in the Archer line are equipped with EasyMesh technology, enabling the creation of a mesh Wi-Fi network when connected to other EasyMesh-compliant devices.
Bandwidth capacity
Kindly direct your attention to the second and third rows. The Archer BE900, which is now available for pre-order, represents the highest model in terms of bandwidth capacity and is the only one that features quad-band capabilities, similar to its Deco BE95 series. The remaining three series are tri-band models. The Archer BE800 and GE800 both offer the same bandwidth capacity, however, the Archer GE800 has been specifically designed for gaming enthusiasts, with its Game Center features. Lastly, the final model is the lowest in the series, offering the lowest bandwidth capacity.

Wired Connection
Please observe the fifth row related to Ethernet ports. The first three series feature two multi-gigabit Ethernet ports with 10 Gbps speed, one of which is a combo port that can be used either as an Ethernet port or an SFP+ port, but not simultaneously. Both multi-gigabit ports are suitable for either high-speed WAN or LAN usage. The final series does not include a 10 Gbps port.
