TP-link Deco P9 vs Orbi vs Velop
One of the mesh wifi systems that differ in the way connecting between the mesh router and satellite, or commonly called backhaul link is the Deco P9 series introduced by TP-link. This Deco P9 is dual band but works like a three band mesh wifi with dedicated backhaul like Orbi. How good Deco P9 is compared with Orbi Rbk-10 mesh wifi system and also Linksys Velop AC1300?
We note that the last few models of Deco series are designed with cylindrical tower models, and most are designed with dual band AC1200 or AC1300. What something unique is offered by Deco P9 series, not physically different, but backhaul link technology is no longer wifi or wired Ethernet but Powerline backhaul. With powerline backhaul links, the link between router and satellite / node uses the existing electricity network in your home.
Nothing is so different from the previous Deco series like Deco M4 AC1200 or Deco S4 AC1200 mesh wifi systems. Deco P9 is also designed with simultaneous dual band ac1200 (867Mbps @ 5GHz + 300Mbps @ 2.4GHz band) plus AV1000 as backhaul link between nodes instead of wifi or wired Ethernet backhaul.

With the same three Deco P9 units, all the three decos use the same Powerline backhaul link so that the other two bands are specifically for client connections so that more clients are connected up to 6,000 sq ft within your large home. Orbi rbk-10 is a new model, see that the previous Orbi series are all three band model.
All the three model, Deco P9, Orbi rbk-10 and Velop AC1300 are designed with simultaneous dual band model with the same wifi speed @5GHz band and slightly different speed @2.4Ghz band for Velop. The main difference is in the backhaul link between nodes which the backhaul link between nodes in mesh network in general is the wifi @ 5Ghz band share with the connected clients. Linksys Velop and Orbi use share backhaul @5GHz band with connected clcients. But Deco P9 uses hybrid backhaul, if the connection between P9s, backhaul uses Powerline with 1,000Mbps speed. However, when combined with other Deco models use combination of wifi and Powerline.
