Antennas

Most people think that the use of external long antennas will provide better range and stronger signal strength than routers with internal antennas. It is true; see it if you want to reach farther range the addition of high gain external antennas often helps. TP-link targets users who have this kind of opinion, that’s why most of their router products (including this Archer C7) are packed with external antenna, two or three.

Mostly Linksys routers are packed with internal antennas, except the high performance EA6900 wireless ac1900 router and the coming WRT 1900AC open-source firmware router both are engineered with external antennas. This EA6500 is designed with 3D antenna arrays so it doesn’t matter whether you have it mounted on the wall or on the table the router provides the same signal strength in all directions.

Port Interfaces

There is no different between the Archer A7 and Linksys AC1750 routers regarding port interfaces because both products are equipped with gigabit Ethernet ports, both LAN and WAN with the same port number.  Most users do not use the Ethernet port fully, usually only two or three ports are used for wired connection for desktop computer and game console or probably for smart-TV with internet ready.

Most people use wireless connection to their multimedia devices such as smart-TVs, game consoles and Blu-ray to be able to connect to the Internet by using multiport wireless bridge such as Linksys WUMC710 wireless AC Bridge. This device is ideal in working together with your dual band wireless ac network.

Both routers are also equipped with two USB ports that you can use to share storage and printer at the same time, and can function as a media server and FTP server.

The USB port function is less flexible when compared to some of the D-link products that support SharePort technology where you can use the storage that is connected to the USB port to function as your personal cloud that can be accessible via your mobile devices everywhere. You can mention D-Link DIR-850L or DIR-868L which come with cloud features.

TP-link Archer doesn’t support cloud feature but FTP feature. With Linksys EA6500 you can monitor and manage your home network everywhere using your mobile devices with Smart-Wifi apps.
