TP-link Archer C3200 Vs Linksys EA9200 AC3200

Overview

The emerging of high speed three band routers in AC5300 network segment such as Linksys and Netgear AC5300 or TP-link and D-link AC5300 makes the prices of the first generation of three band routers in AC3200 network segment is beginning to drop in line of the time.

Moreover, the introduction of the first multi-band router Talon AD7200 router based on the next generation wireless AD (802.11ad) standard introduced by TP-link will be soon followed by other vendors would make people wait and see for a while before deciding to purchase new gear.

Three band routers

Wireless AC3200 router is a three band router, something like having a wireless AC1900 router in the center of the house plus another single 5GHz band wireless AC1200 access point. On the other hand, with wireless AC5300 router is like having a wireless AC3100 dual band router in the center of the house plus single 5GHz band wireless AC2200 access point. Well, not exactly the same actually.

Good rating

Couple of three band routers are tagged with the higher price than others in line with the product is getting popular with high customer rating such as Netgear X6 AC3200 R8000 router and D-link DIR-890L router. Some other models are getting lower customer rating such as TP-link Archer C3200, Linksys AC3200 router (EA9200) and Trendnet TEW-828 even though their performance are not that bad and sometimes rating is about user’s preference. All the three routers are tagged with the price under $200, less expensive than those high rating products with the price more than $250.

Comparison

The following two comparison tables show you reference which router is suitable to meet your need. Table 1 shows you comparison TP-link Archer C3200 and Linksys EA9200 AC3200 router and table 2 shows you comparison between TP-link Archer C3200 and Trendnet TEW-828DRU.

Wifi

All the three routers are three band routers in AC3200 network segment delivering speeds of up to 1300Mbps (@5GHz band1 and @5GHz band2) plus 600Mbps @2.4GHz band. They are also equipped with 6x antennas either internal and external. Linksys EA9200 comes with combination of three external antennas and 3x internal antennas, while the other two products come with six external antennas.

Interfaces

Normally mostly all the high performance routers are embedded with four-port Gigabit Switch and Gigabit WAN port, you’ll find that the three products come with the same Gigabit LAN and WAN ports. For more LAN ports you may consider Linksys EA9500 AC5300 router which comes with 8-Gigabit LAN ports.

Unlike Linksys which equips the router with a single USB 3.0 port, the Archer C3200 and TEW-828 come with combination of USB 2.0 port and USB 3.0 port. Now you have similar interface specs with minus one USB 2.0 port on Linksys.

High performance technology

Wireless three band routers are mostly flavored with high end features including Beamforming technology for solid wifi connection to clients and Smart-Connect technology for automatically push the client to connect to the fastest available band the client can work optimally. And these three wireless AC3200 routers come with the same Beamforming and Smart-Connect technologies.
