Orbi RBK750 Series vs Deco X60
Netgear released the new Orbi rbk750 series and sold in 3 kinds of packages: Orbi Rbk752, Orbi rbk753, and Rbk753s. The Orbi Rbk750 series was released after its predecessor Orbi Rbk850 series. How does this rbk750 series compare to its newly released TP-link Deco X60 competitor?
Like its predecessor Orbi rbk850 series which is designed with wifi-6 technology, the rbk750 series is also based on wifi-6 technology. However, these two product series work in different network segments.
Rbk750 vs Rbk850 series
For reference use the following table 1 which helps you to understand the main differences between these two product series.
These two product series work on different network segments, and of course the capacities of each series are also different in terms of wifi technology and hardware design each of the device product. The Rbk750 series, which works on the ax4200 network segment, is equipped with a slightly lower hardware capacity than the RBK850 series including lower wifi speeds for each radio band, number of internal antennas design, number of Ethernet ports both router and its satellite and also processors embedded in each product.
Take a closer look at the table below to make it clearer what the differences between these two product series are.
Table 1 Orbi Rbk750 vs Rbk850 Series
|Wifi technology||Tri-band ax4200 mesh wifi with MU-MIMO||Tri-band AX6000 mesh wifi with MU-MIMO|
|Wifi speeds||2.4GHz (600Mbps†) + 5GHz (1200Mbps†) for WiFi devices connection 5GHz (2400Mbps†) dedicated backhaul||2.4GHz (1200Mbps†) + 5GHz (2400Mbps†) for WiFi devices connection 5GHz (2400Mbps†) dedicated backhaul|
|Antennas||Six (6) high performance internal antennas with high-powered amplifiers||Eight (8) high performance internal antennas with high-powered amplifiers|
|Wan Port||1x 1 Gigabit WAN port Link aggregation using WAN port and a Gigabit Ethernet port (2Gbps)||1x 2.5Gigabit WAN port or Combine two Gigabit Ethernet (LAN and WAN) ports for multi-Gigabit speeds|
|LAN ports||3x Gigabit LAN Ports||4x Gigabit LAN ports|
|Processor||Quad core 1.4GHz CPU with 512MB NAND Flash and 1GB RAM||Quad core 2.2GHz CPU with 512MB NAND Flash and 1GB RAM|
There are three types of Orbi Rbk750 series kit sold in the market:
- Orbi Rbk752 which consists of one Orbi router Rbr750 plus one Orbi satellite Rbs750.
- The second package is the Orbi Rbk753 which consists of one Orbi router rbr750 plus two Orbi satellites Rbs750.
- And the third package is Rbk753s, the same as rbk753 and the “s” on rbk753s is including one year subscription of Netgear Armor.
Compared to the Deco X60 which does not differentiate between router and satellite units, each Deco unit can function as a router or satellite depending on the WAN port connected to the cable modem or not with auto sensing technology, Orbi differentiates between Orbi router and Orbi satellite, although physically and technically they are almost the same. But there are differences in the design function. If the Orbi router has a WAN port and 3 LAN ports, on the Orbi satellite there is no WAN port and only two LAN ports.
Orbi rbk750 series is designed with AX4200 network segment, delivering speeds of up to 600Mbps @2.4GHz radio band plus two radio band @5GHz with speeds of up to 1,200Mbps for wifi clients connections and the third radio band delivers speed up to 2,400Mbps that is used as dedicated backhaul link between Orbi units.
Compared to several mesh wifi models that generally do not use dedicated backhaul link, but share bandwidth between backhaul needs and also for client connection needs such as the Deco X60, Orbi prefers to use a dedicated backhaul link on all Orbi series.
Orbi Rbr750 is equipped with one Gigabit WAN port to connect to the cable modem with up to 1,000Mbps internet service plan. However, should you demand higher internet speed; you can use aggregate port by combining one Gigabit WAN port and one Gigabit LAN port.

The Rbk750 series which works in a lower network segment than its predecessor Rbk850 series, implements a Quad core processor with a clock speed of 1.4GHz, lower than the clock speed of the Rbk750 series which is spurred with 2.2GHz clock speed. However, both series are equipped with the same capacity of flash and RAM memory to power heavy-duty processing tasks of three radio band network.
Deco X60 is also powered by Quad core processor, however doesn’t specify speed details including the memory embedded in the board.
If you choose the Orbi Rbk752 kit which consists of one Rbr750 router unit which has 3x LAN ports and one Orbi Rbs750 satellite with 2x LAN ports, so you have 5x Gigabit LAN ports that you can use to connect Ethernet devices such as desktops, game consoles, internet TV etc. Compare with TP-link Deco X60 (3-pack), which each Deco unit has two Gigabit LAN ports (one WAN connected to the modem), then you also have 5 LAN ports spread over three spots where each of your Deco units is installed.
Orbi Rbk752 vs Deco X60
The following table 2 is summary of spec comparison table between Orbi Rbk752 with two packs and TP-link Deco X60 with three-pack.
It is not so fair when comparing Orbi rbk750 series which is in a higher network segment than TP-link Deco X60, but from an economic and budget perspective as well as suitability for the condition of your home, it is better for these two products to be compared.
Orbi offers Netgear Armor and Bitdefender Total Security protection for all connected devices against any malware, phishing, and fraud – even when you’re on the go. However, this is not free, you have to subscribe annually. Deco X60 also offers TP-Link HomeCare for protection of all connected devices in home including antivirus, parental control and QoS. See more details TP-Link Home care.
We have discussed above few differences between these two products, and the table below is the summary of spec comparison table.
