Netgear Rax20 AX1800 Router vs Archer Ax20

Netgear introduces couples of low end wifi 6 router – Netgear Rax20 and Rax15 wifi 6 ax1800 routers. How good Rax20 is compared with TP-link Archer ax1800 router.

With the emergence of many WiFi 6 technology-based products, most vendors firstly release their products in the high end class. We know Netgear with its Rax80 ax6000 router or TP-link with its Archer ax6000 router. Or a mesh wifi system-based products like Orbi wifi 6 mesh wifi, or Linksys Velop mx10 wifi 6 mesh wifi and Asus Zenwifi xt8 mesh wifi system etc.

After that they released products in the lower middle class, just call it TP-link that released TP-link Archer wifi 6 ax1800 router, or Netgear that released Netgear Rax40 ax3000 router and Netgear rax20 ax1800 router, still waiting for Linksys to release its wifi 6 router even though Linksys has released its wifi 6-based mesh wifi – The Velop MX10 wifi 6 mesh wifi system..

Wifi

Both products are designed based on the same wifi 6 technology and are based on the same network segment, namely ax1800 which means simultaneous dual band wifi with speeds up to 1200Mbps @ 5GHz radio band and up to 600Mbps @ 2.4GHz radio band.

Of course your connected devices must also support WiFi 6 technology to get the optimum data throughput, although there are still not many devices that support WiFi 6 technology but to face the technology development of connected devices in the future your router is ready. For desktop computers, now you can buy several models of wifi 6 adapters utilizing PCIe slot, and laptops are also widely available PCIe based on wifi 6 technology. However, the more practical USB wifi 6 adapter so far is not ready in the market.

Antennas

There is a slight difference in design in terms of antennas. Antenna is very influential on the way the signal is sent which will be influenced by obstacles that can interfere with the direction of the signal path. Increasing the number of antennas can increase signal path coverage so that it provides a more consistent and solid signal.TP-link Archer ax20 offers four high gain external antennas to assure that the signal path coverage to blanket your whole home. Compare with Netgear rax20 that only comes with two external antennas.

The good thing is that both routers are compliant with WPA3 – the latest wifi security encryption in industry today, replacing the previous WPA2.
