Netgear Orbi Rbk752 vs Velop Which One is Better Value

How well does netgear orbi rbk752 compete with similar products Velop released by Linksys when wifi 6 technology has been enhanced into wifi 6e with the addition of 6GHz radio band? So far Linksys has released a new mesh wifi 6e product, as well as wifi 7, so has Netgear.

What this Netgear Orbi Rbk752 does?

So far, the top tier mesh wifi 6 product released by netgear is the Orbi rbk852 which is a premium product, and below this one is the medium tier Netgar Orbi rbk752. Netgear released Rbk752 to fill in vacuum products in the medium class market segment which is currently mostly filled by tp link deco x60 and also asus xt8.

This time we will compare the Orbi Rbk752 series with Linksys Velop Mx10, the first Velop mesh wifi based on wifi 6 technology. You may also like to see how Linksys Atlas axe8400 wifi 6e technology compared with Asus et8.

Orbi Rbk750 series

In the Orbi Rbk750 series there are three bundles of product packages sold in the market which are a combination of the Orbi Rbr750 mesh router and the Orbi Rbs750 mesh Satellite. Orbi separate between Orbi router and Orbi satellite units that are modular in nature, a combination of one Orbi mesh router plus one or more Orbi mesh satellites.

  1. Orbi Rbk752 which consists of Rbr750 mesh router plus one unit Orbi Rbs750 mesh satellite
  2. Orbi Rbk753 kit which consists of One Orbi Rbr750 mesh router plus two units of Orbi Rbs750 mesh satellite
  3. Orbi Rbk753s is same as Rbk753 with the addition of One year of Netgear Armor subscription.

Orbi RBK752 vs Linksys Velop

We’ll take rbk752 and compare it with Linksys Velop MX10 (which consists of two Velop MX5s).

Please refer to table 1 below which shows you specs and features comparison between rbk752 and velop mx10 to make it easier to know technical strengths and weaknesses.

Velop Mx10 (MX10600) consists of two units of Velop Mx5 nodes. You may also like see Asus Zenwifi XT8 ax6000 mesh wifi.

Wifi technology

Both products are designed with simultaneous three radio bands, and the signal rate of each band differs according to the network segment design each product works at. Each product supports 4×4 MU-MIMO although not every radio band supports, but there is one radio band that supports 4×4 mu-mimo.

With support for 4×4 mu-mimo; the router can send data streams 4×1 streams to 4 devices that support 1×1 mu-mimo at once. Or you can send 2x data streams at once to two devices that support 2×2 mu-mimo. Currently, we find few pci-e adapters for desktop PCs based on wifi 6 on the market, such as the Asus ax3000 or the archer ax3000 adapter. And today you can find few models of USB wifi 6 adapters you can easily connect to either desktop or laptop, you don’t need to open the computer case of the desktop. For laptop is Ok, you don’t need to open the case. Just insert the wifi 6 usb adapter into the available usb 3.0 port, remember all wifi 6 usb adapters only support usb 3.0, not usb 2.0.

Regarding aggregated total bandwidth each product can support, Linksys Velop mx10600 delivers more bandwidth @ax5300 network than Orbi rbk752 that works @ax4200.


Communication between mesh router and its satellites uses a wifi backhaul link and also the wired backhaul option using an Ethernet port connection is also supported.

See that netgear orbi rbk752 series uses dedicated backhaul link using radio band @5GHz with speed of 2,400Mbps, all the other two radio bands with total aggregated bandwidth of up to 1,800Mbps (600Mbps @2.4Ghz + 1,200Mbps @5GHz) are used for connected clients.

Linksys Velop mx10 uses different approach in connecting link between mesh router and its mesh satellite nodes by using both radio bands @5 GHz bands with dynamic backhaul link concept and shared with connected clients too.

Both Orbi and Velop provide optional wired Ethernet backhaul by connecting each router and satellite node using Cat5e or Cat6 UTP cable, one end of UTP cable with RJ45 connection connects to one LAN Ethernet port at the router and the other end connect to one of LAN port of the satellite. Since each router support more than one LAN ports, you can use star backhaul topology where each satellite nodes connect to the router nodes. You can also apply daisy chain topology by connecting the router – the node – the node in a series connection.  

Wired backhaul is more reliable than wifi backhaul because wired connection is not affected by signal interference, aka lossless. And you can run longer cable up to 300ft from router to satellite nodes, however with longer cable you will experience dead zones in some areas.

Ethernet & USB ports

Unlike the Linksys Velop mx5 which both router and satellites each has 4x Gigabit LAN ports and 1x Gigabit WAN port with auto sensing either working as a mesh router or satellite node, Orbi differentiates between router and satellite and the mesh router is equipped with 1x Gigabit WAN port and 3x Gigabit LAN ports, while on satellite node there are only 2x Gigabit LAN ports.

Orbi doesn’t come with USB port but Linksys Velop does as you see from the USB port row on the table.


All the two products are powered by Quad core processor with different clock speed, Orbi comes embedded with 1.4Ghz clock speed while both Velop also embedded by Quad core processor with 2.2GHz clock speed for faster processing.

The good thing with both products is they come with latest WPA3 wireless security encryption and work with Amazon Alexa for voice control.
