What this CM500 does

Netgear CM500 is DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem – a CableLabs® certified delivering high speed cable internet connection with download speeds of up to 680Mbps (16x channel bonding) and upload speeds of up to 132Mbps (4x channel bonding). The speeds deliver to your home will depend your Cable services and the plan services you subscribe to the Cable provider. For example, with Xfinity Extreme 150 package the download speeds up to 150Mbps, or Ultimate 300 plans.




If your existing cable modem is still Surfboard SB6120 that can delivers only 100Mbps then there will be a bottleneck, you should upgrade the modem that can deliver download speeds up to 340Mbps such as Surfboard SB6141 or CM400 that can deliver speeds up to 340Mbps. All of those modems are DOCSIS 3 cable modem.
