Linksys WUMC710 Universal Media Connector

Linksys WUMC710 is a wireless ac universal media converter with 4 gigabit port and based on wireless ac

New 5G wifi era

Wireless router with fifth generation of wifi technology has been widely produced by almost all wifi manufacturers including Linksys, Netgear, Buffalo, D-Link and more. What’s in this technology? No other than the wireless connection speeds that can be up to 1300Mbps theoretically. Although the technology is still in draft version, but you can taste this future of wireless technology today.

If you doubt whether 5G wifi can be compatible with your current wireless devices, no worries this technology is backward compatible with wireless g / n. So your investment in previous wifi technology can still be used. If you have upgraded your current router with a wireless ac router, of course, you also wish to your current wifi connector to be based on wireless ac technology as well to get optimal data rate throughput.

Multiple Port Bridge

Linksys aware of the expectations of many users who want all their wireless devices can communicate with wireless ac-based wifi network optimally. Why would you have a very high bandwidth if your wifi client capabilities can only use a narrow bandwidth, it will just be wasteful. Linksys has shipped EA6500 wireless ac series, and now you can pair it with Linksys WUMC710 wifi connector which is also based on the same wireless ac technology. Surely this will result in the maximum throughput when both have the same bandwidth capacity, so expecting no more bottlenecks that impede smooth communication between two wifi devices.

What this product does

If you have multiple Ethernet-based devices, and you wish they could communicate with the existing wireless ac-based network, then this is the product that you may consider. Linksys WUMC710 is wireless ac-based universal wifi connector that runs on a single 5GHz band. Yes off course in order to communicate with the wireless ac networks optimally that generally support dual band such as Linksys EA6500 series as well as others. Because of its nature is universal, it is expected to be able to communicate with all models of wireless router that supports 5GHz frequency band.

Linksys WUMC710

Main features

  • Based on the latest wireless ac (draft) technology and is backward compatible with dual band wireless routers
  • Speeds up to 1300Mbps theoretically and is powered by 3×3 MIMO-based antenna technology for wide coverage
  • Equipped with 4x Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • QoS for video prioritization traffic
  • Easy setup and is WPS support

With the above features it will be very reasonable if you have this product a try only if your current wireless router is a dual band of the last generation, and is very good if it is wireless ac-based router.

This WUMC710 model is not much different from its predecessor WET610N wireless bridge and the shape reminds me of (sorry to say) an open clam. The main differences are that WET610N is wireless N300 based bridge with 4x 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports.

Buffalo also offers you the same wireless Ethernet bridge based on this 802.11ac technology – WLI-H4-D1300 AirStation AC1300. It also includes 4x Gigabit ports but it is selectable dual band.
