The legend Has Come
Linksys is now reviving the spirit of WRT54G router what was once is phenomenal as the pioneer of 802.11g standard-based router, the router with linux-based firmware, the open source firmware.
Even though there are lots of people still use the WRT54G router considering that its performance is very excellent and is durable, but with the emerging of the wireless N technology and now wireless ac which is a fifth-generation of wifi technology – the future of wireless technology, the echo of the pioneer is dim. No wonder that Linksys would like to revive the spirit of WRT54G to incarnate with the spirit of the fifth generation of the wifi technology. Of course a huge fan of the legendary WRT54G can’t stand waiting for the legend to incarnate in the new spirit of wireless ac technology.
Why Linksys offers another wireless ac 1900 router knowing that it has introduced EA6900 wireless ac 1900 router? This one is different. Probably Linksys would like to call WRT54G old users, you know that the WRT54G was sold over 40 million devices around the world, to taste the new incarnation of WRT54G in the form of WRT 1900AC router – a router with the future of wifi technology. Moreover, it is different with the EA6900 becasue the firmware is based on open source Linux OS you can customize to meet your needs as developpers.

This WRT 1900AC also comes with smart-wifi apps you can manage your home network from the palm of your hand. It also comes with network map to help you view your network and connected devices easily. Windows server 2012 series also come with network map you can easily manage your network by clicking the node and configure it. They can provide you a complete networking diagram what your servers are organized. This is what Linksys would like to equip in its smart-wifi apps.
In the lack of one USB 2.0 port, you still have option to store more space by adding eSATA disk attach to the router that can deliver the data rates of up to 3Gb/s, and it can also support USB 2.0 device with the speeds of up to 489Mbps.

Linksys EA6900 is powered by the dual core 800Mhz processor, but the WRT 1900AC is powered by 40% faster processor – dual core 1.2GHz processor. You can compare it with Netgear R7000 or Asus AC68U, both routers come with the same AC1900 technology but R7000 is powered by 1GHz dual core processor and Asus with 800MHz processor, this WRT router would be the first router with the fastest 1.2GHz dual core processor ever made so far and is Linux-based firmware (open source) in AC1900 class.
Now, we will have many options in the wireless AC1900 routers. Currently there are already some wireless ac1900 routers available in the market including Asus RT-AC68U and Netgear R7000.
