Linksys EA7300 vs Netgear R6400 Vs Archer C9

At the end of 2016, Linksys offered couple of wireless routers with Multi User MIMO technology, the Linksys WRT3200ACM and Linksys EA7300 Max Stream MU-MIMO router.  Linksys WRT3200ACM is not like traditional three band routers but it is a dual band router with open source firmware. What about the EA7300?

Linksys EA7300

Even though both Linksys EA6500 and EA7300 are both having the same AC1750 network segment, both routers are not similar regarding the technology applied to each of the products. Linksys EA7300 was released two years after the first model of Linksys EA6500 AC1750 router.    See also comparison between Archer C7 and EA6500.

What this product does

Linksys EA7300 is a new model released around sep 2016, and is based on wireless AC1750 technology network segment, delivering dual band wifi network with speeds of up to 1300Mbps @5Ghz band and up to 600Mbps @2.4Ghz band.

MU-MIMO

Multi User MIMO technology is a new generation of MIMO technology that allows the router delivers multiple data streams to multiple clients at the same time, simultaneously to eliminate network bottleneck when multiple clients demand high data rate throughput at the same bandwidth share. Traditional non MU-MIMO routers send data one by one to multiple clients that commonly contributes delay.

MU-MIMO technology is commonly applied to new generations of high end routers such as Linksys EA8500 AC2600 router, TP-link Archer C2600 and Netgear X4S AC2600 router. and even new generation of mesh home wifi routers apply MU-MIMO technology such as Linksys Velop 3 band mesh wifi system, Portal wave 2 wifi system, and Netgear Orby.

With this MU-MIMO features, Linksys EA7300 is claimed to be the fastest AC1750 router based on Tolly report at Oct 2016 much faster than Netgear R6400, TP-link Archer C7 and Asus RT-AC66U.

With these features, Linksys EA7300 is ideal for 4K video streaming, online gaming and other high intensive bandwidth applications within medium household. For extending the wifi in case of dead spots in farthest corner of the house you pair it with Linksys Max-Stream RE7000 wifi range extender. See also Linksys extender in top 10 range extenders.

Comparison

Technically you may compare this product with two of popular wireless routers that have been around in the market for some times, the Netgear R6400 router and TP-link Archer C9 router. Table 1 and 2 below show you handful spec comparison table between Linksys EA7300 and Netgear R6400 and TP-link Archer C9 AC1900.

MU-MIMO feature

The main difference is the inclusion of MU-MIMO technology in Linksys EA7300 while the other two competing products are not ready with this feature. no wonder that in some tests performed by Tolly proved that Linksys EA7300 is superior in speed performance than other competing products including R6400 and Archer C7.

While all the three routers are ready with Beamforming technology to send focus beam to clients solidly while roaming within the network coverage.

Other port interfaces, Linksys EA7300 is equipped with only single USB 3.0 port, while the other two competing routers. This could be the drawback for some people that require two USB ports for hosting both printer and storage at the same time.
