Google Mesh Wifi System
Google is expanding to wifi system in line with its success liaising with Asus and TP-link to produce Google OnHub, today Google offers home mesh wifi system.
What this product does
A single wireless router that is supposed to cover the whole home is sometimes doesn’t work. Typically you place the wireless router not at the center of your home but at the corner of the home where the internet line enters. So that’s why in some cases you need to add one or two wireless range extender to eliminate dead spots in the furthers corner of the house.
So that’s why Google introduces Google mesh wifi system to blanket the whole home with solid wifi network, easy to install and manage with Google wifi app.
Google is not the only player in mesh wifi network system. you can find today few vendors offering the same products including Netgear Orbi with three band wifi system; Luma home wifi system; Linksys Velop wifi system and you can also find Ubiquiti with its Amplifi wifi system. all of them based on the concept of mesh network.
The base concept of a mesh wifi network is group of routers that link together and communicate wirelessly to each other in home wifi network. Each of the wifi mesh point acts as source of high performance wifi network instead of single wireless router. With three pack of Google wifi system you have three source of the same wifi network. This concept is much better than a single wireless router plus couple of wireless range extender.
With multiple wifi points in home, unlike wired network that route the data according to where the wired connection connect from one point to another, with Google wifi system and the Google Network Assist each the wifi points always choose the best path for the fastest wifi speeds to deliver data streaming and gaming.
Each Google wifi router comes with two Gigabit Ethernet port, one Gigabit port for WAN and the other port acts as the Gigabit LAN port. While each of the Google wifi points consists of two Gigabit LAN ports for high speed Gigabit wired connection like other home wifi system products.
Unlike Google, Orbi comes with four Gigabit Ethernet ports, one WAN and three LAN ports for router while the Orbi satellite all the 4x Gigabit ports are LAN interfaces.
Amplifi has different configuration, Amplifi has single router unit with five Gigabit ports, 1x Gigabit port for WAN and 4x Gigabit ports for LAN. Amplifi mesh points comes with simple thing like wall plug range extender such as Netgear EX7300 wall plug range extender, they don’t come with any Gigabit Ethernet ports.
Google wifi systems comes with Google wifi apps that helps you manage your network not like traditional wireless routers with blinking LEDs for any networking issues. Google wifi apps helps you troubleshoot any networking issues in readable message right in your mobile device with Google app. See the following link to learn more about Google network assist.
Like Google with network assist, Amplifi also comes with Amplifi app for network management and setup via mobile, however Amplifi router is designed with stylist color display – a smart touch screen display for real time networking status.
