Gigabit Speed Wireless AC Bridges and Adapters

Find suitable wireless ac Ethernet bridges or wireless ac USB adapters to meet your wireless ac network. Buffalo offers WLI-H4-D1300 wireless ac Ethernet adapters and Netgear offers you wireless ac USB adapter -A6200.

Overview

How fast is your current wireless router or wireless adapter? If currently your router is based on wireless 802.11a/g/n with three spatial data streams, the maximum theoretical speed is up to 450Mbps. You can claim that your existing router is the fastest router based on the 802.11a/n N900 technology; you can say Netgear WNDR4500 N900 router or Linksys EA4500 N900 Cloud router or other N900 router. Soon your router would be out dated with the introductions of new 5th generation of Wi-Fi network 802.11ac standard, and more wireless ac adapters are coming.

This wireless ac standard delivers the gigabit speed up to 1300Mbps exceeding your gigabit wired cable connectivity (theoretically). Currently Netgear introduces its first wireless ac router R6300, and Buffalo first wireless ac router WZR-D1800H which both of them are dual band gigabit wireless ac router with the blazing speeds up to 1300Mbps, and still more. And the current three band wireless ac routers are also introduced by Netgear with its Nighthawk X6 (R8000); and Asus also offers Asus RT-AC3200 three band router; and still more. Unfortunately not many wireless ac adapters are offered, or in other words, the high speed wireless ac adapters are not produced as fast as the wireless ac routers.

Wireless ac Ethernet Bridge

Probably you might ask why having the blazing speed of 5G router if your existing wireless client adapters are still based on wireless N standard with speed up to 300Mbps. That opinion makes sense, since the speed would be based on the lowest speed of the communication devices can deliver. Wireless shares the bandwidth, so if your router works in gigabit speed of 5G wireless technology, it can deliver higher speed to multiple high speed wireless clients simultaneously. This is ideal for home theater environments where you need to stream multiple HD media through the network.

Today, some wireless ac adapter products are introduced into the market and Buffalo introduces 5G Wireless Ethernet bridges (WLI-H4-D1300) you can pair with your 5G Wi-Fi router.

Buffalo WLI-H4-D1300

One of the wireless ac adapters is the Ethernet Bridge product introduced by the Buffalo – WLI-H4-D1300. Product design is a box with a light black. Internal antenna makes it sleek and neat, can be placed standing vertically or laid horizontally.

Main features:

  • Based on 5G wifi technology (Wireless 11ac)
  • Selectable dual band support
  • Speeds up to 1300 Mbps in cleaner 5GHz band
  • Speeds up to 450 Mbps in more crowded 2.4 GHz band
  • 4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports

What this product does?

Obviously you expect to get the maximum throughput of your Ethernet-base devices when connected to fifth generation of a wifi network that can reach speeds of up to 1300Mbps when operating at 5GHz band. You can choose WLI-H4-D1300 to operate on the 2.4GHz band or the 5GHz band because it is dual band selectable.

The good thing with this device is a multi-port, 4 gigabit Ethernet ports so that you can simultaneously connect up to four Ethernet-based devices including Xbox, Blu-Ray player, HDTV with Ethernet ready to join the high-speed wifi network. It is practical right?

One thing that this product is not so flexible is that it doesn’t support simultaneous dual band but selectable. But hang on, since this product is frequently for multiple multimedia devices that connect to HDTV such as XBOX and Blu-Ray player that run one in a time, selectable band is suitable.

Netgear USB Wireless ac Adapter

Netgear also introduces wireless ac USB adapter – A6200 – a dual band wireless 802.11ac USB adapter you can pair with your wireless ac router including Netgear wireless ac1450 router or Linksys EA6500 wireless ac routers.

Indeed, the body of the adapter is certainly not as slim as USB wireless adapter in general, because technology applied is wireless ac that has gigabit speeds. Maybe the next few years in line with advances in technology the body can be made as compact as possible like micro USB adapter.

Upgrade your laptop wifi adapter with this 5G wireless ac USB adapter.

Netgear A6200

The NETGEAR A6200 WiFi Adapter features:

  • Upgrading your existing legacy wireless clients to this gigabit speed of 802.11ac USB adapter easily
  • No worries of incompatibility with 802.11 a, b, g and n WiFi routers
  • Ideal for home theater environments for very fast HD streaming
  • To easily position the adapters to get best performance the adapter is designed with swivel antennas
  • Optional with a desktop docking station

More wireless dual band USB adapters and wireless ac adapters are coming soon in the end of the year from other networking vendors. KG
