Arguably eero whole home mesh wifi is the pioneer of mesh wifi product that is so popular and is a startup product that is now under Amazon umbrella after being acquired from eero. Under Amazon, eero is redefined to work seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and the price is much cheaper than when it was still under Eero startup.
Eero 6 mesh wifi
Today, you can find Amazon releases two series of eero mesh wifi system based on wifi-6 technology. Eero-6 mesh wifi series for up to 500Mbps internet plan and another series is eero 6 Pro mesh wifi-6 for Gigabit internet plan. We’ll compare this eero 6 vs Deco x20 that works at the same ax1800 network segment. The comparison eero 6 Pro with other mesh products such as Orbi, or Deco x60 or Velop ax4200 mx12600 will be discussed at the other articles.

Eero 6 vs eero 6 Pro
Both of these eero-6 series give you the option to choose which series is suitable to meet your home wifi network needs. If your internet needs at home or your small office is up to 500Mbps then use the eero-6 ax1800 only, while if you need wider internet bandwidth up to Gigabit internet plan you can use the eero-6 Pro.
With eero-6 ax1800, you require one eero 6 mesh router plus one or more eero-6 mesh extender when larger coverage is needed. The eero-6 extender unit doesn’t come with Ethernet port, but the eero-6 router does.
Connect to gigabit Internet plan
The Eero-6 Pro both the router and the satellite are the same and come with two gigabit Ethernet ports with auto sensing. The WAN port you need to connect to high speed modem such as Nighthawk CM700 DOCSIS 3.0 or you may connect to the latest one is Nighthawk CM1000 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem. Or you may use Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem.
The Eero-6 Pro both router and satellite are the same and come with two gigabit Ethernet ports with auto sensing.
Bandwidth
The main difference between these two series can be seen from the following spec comparison table below; where the first difference is the network segment the router works. The Eero-6 standard works at the ax1800 dual band network segment, while the eero 6 Pro works on the tri-band ax4200.
Both series use wifi backhaul to share bandwidth with connected clients. Eero doesn’t provide a more detailed spec which backhaul link method is applied to the system.
Processor
Note that the processor and RAM and flash memory embedded into each of the board are different. They come with relatively large flash memory (4GB) for system programming needs and system configuration to assure the route selection is efficient. Compare it with other mesh routers which are generally only equipped with 1GB flash.
This 4GB flash means a lot in eero performance. TrueMesh eero technology ensures the traffic route is selected very intelligently to ensure efficient and fast routes with all possible obstacles to ensure that there are no drop-offs when you are doing heavy tasks without interruptions such as 4k video streaming, online games or smooth video conferencing.
Table 1 eero-6 vs eero-6 Pro

Now we’ll take eero 6 ax1800 mesh wifi and compare it with its competing product TP-link Deco x20 that has been around in the market for a while. Deco x20 is a mesh router with the same ax1800 as the eero 6, you can also compare it with one step higher level Deco x60 series which works at ax3000.
Eero 6 vs Deco x20
The release of the eero 6 to the market will hit to similar products that are already available on the market so far considering the excellent performance of the previous eero series based on wifi-5, and the price offered is more affordable than similar products such as the Deco x20.

Consider the following table 2 which compares the eero 6 ax1800 with Tp-link deco x20. From this comparison table we can find a number of different technical specs, including the completeness of the Ethernet port and the processor that is embedded into each product.
Pay attention to the Flash memory up to 4GB that is used to accompany the Quad core processor in the eero 6. Of course, programming and configuring to provide optimal performance is complicated and requires a large amount of memory to store and to make processing tasks run flawlessly, and eero brings the tradition of 4GB flash in its mesh products.
Smart home
In the future, there will come many smart home products based on the zigbee standard, and the eero-6 is equipped with the Zigbee standard to facilitate the integration of smart home devices. Zigbee is a worldwide standard for low power mesh networks for home and buildings.
The Deco x20 does not come with Zigbee standards except for Alexa support.

And today Amazon updates its eero 6 series with better features, eero 6 plus with double bandwidth ax3000 and Gigabit internet speed supports. Both supports the same smart hub. And you may also like to see new series of deco with voice assistant, the deco voice x20. This deco voice x20 comes with built-in Alexa skills and integrated with high performance speakers, this eliminate the need of separate Alexa device Echo dot or Google assistant.
We’ll see that in the future the prices are fluctuating depends how good the market acceptance. Click the link below to shop the product in Amazon (#ads).
