D-Link Covr AC2200 vs Deco P9 vs Google Nest
Among the Covr mesh wifi series introduced by D-link including the latest Covr-2200 series, the acceptance of the market is not so better than Deco series which prices are more economical without having to compromise with performance. Likewise Google wifi which until now market acceptance is so good, the latest series offered by Google is Google Nest wifi.
D-Link Covr AC2200 vs Deco P9 vs Google Nest
How D-link Covr 2200 mesh wifi system is compared to TP-link Deco P9 and also Google Nest wifi? We’ll discuss these three products in technical spec comparison in the following next paragraphs.
The mesh wifi system always includes one radio band @ 5GHz for backhaul link between mesh routers and satellites, and few models don’t use dedicated backhaul but share radio band for both backhaul link and connected devices. Likewise, D-link Covr 2200 uses one of radio band @5GHz as dedicated backhaul link between nodes like some other mesh system models.
D-link Covr 2200 is designed with simultaneous three bands with one dedicated band @5GHz, so there are two radio bands remain for the needs of connected devices with a total bandwidth of around 1300Mbps (867Mbps + 400Mbps). Compare with Deco P9 which is a dual band mesh wifi with Powerline @ 1000Mbps as a backhaul link, leaving the two radio bands for the needs of connected devices.
What D-link vs Google Nest? Nest is simultaneous dual band and is designed with wifi backhaul link @5GHz share with connected devices. However, Nest uses wider bandwidth @5GHz compared with Covr and Deco.
With Nest, you can use wired Ethernet backhaul if you use two or more Nest routers in a mesh network, while Nest Point does not have an Ethernet port. Likewise Deco P9 can connect with other Deco models in one mesh with hybrid Powerline and wifi backhaul.
So, technically Deco P9 with Powerline backhaul @ 1,000Mbps that uses existing electricity wiring has better performance than the 867Mbps @ 5GHz radio backhaul band offered by Covr 2200.
These three products support Amazon Alexa to add value to your smart home environment by simply using your voice to do some control of your mesh system. Covr and Deco need an Alexa device, but for Google Nest you can use Nest points that have a built-in Google assistant. However, Amazon does not sell Nest Point, probably it’s about business consideration side because with Google Nest Point you don’t need to buy Amazon Alexa.
Now take a look at the following two spec comparison table to help you understand the product differences.
