Asus RT-AX92U AX6100 vs Orbi Rbk852
The first mesh wifi-6 product released by Asus was the Asus rt-ax92u and then few months later followed by the Asus Zenwifi xt8 series. However, user reception was not so good especially after Netgear released the first mesh wifi-6 product Orbi rbk850.
Asus rt-ax92u vs Orbi rbk852
The Asus rt-ax92u works on the ax6100 network segment and retail price for around $350 (two-pack kit). How good is Orbi rbk852 compared to Asus rt-ax92u?
What this rt-ax92u does
Before we compare this ax92u with the Orbi rbk852, let me briefly discuss what this product does. See also Orbi rbk852 vs Asus zenwifi xt8.
The Rt-ax92u is sold in a two-pack kit is simultaneous tri-band mesh ax61000 wifi-6 in which connection between nodes (backhaul link) uses the @5ghz @4,800mbps radio band. All other wifi-6-based connected devices also connect to the same @5Ghz wifi-6 radio band sharing with backhaul link between nodes. Meanwhile, connected devices with wifi-5 connect to the other available radio bands @5ghz @867mbps and also @2.4ghz @400mbps.
- Simultaneous tri-band mesh wifi 6 system ax6100 with total aggregated bandwidth up to 6100Mbps (400Mbps + 867Mbps + 4804Mbps)
- Dedicated backhaul link between nodes using radio band @5GHz @4,804Mbps and share with other wifi-6 connected devices. The other two radio bands are for other 802.11b/g/n/ac connected devices
- Optional wired Ethernet backhaul link for reliable solid connection is also supported
- Cover up to 5,500 sq ft for 2-pack kit
- Supports any OFDMA, MU-MIMO, beamforming and 20/40/80/160 Mhz bandwidth
- Equipped with 4x Gigabit LAN and 1xGigabit WAN ports, aggregated WAN and other one LAN port for 2Gbps WAN port is supported
- 1x USB 2.0 and 1x USB 3.1 gen1
- Lifetime free AiProtection Pro network security powered by Trend Micro
If there are currently no wireless ax-based connected devices at home, the total bandwidth for them is 1200Mbps and the backhaul link bandwidth is 4800mbps as wide as a highway lane. If there are few desktops, it’s a good idea to install wifi-6 PCI-e adapter ax3000 such as the Asus ax3000 or archer ax3000 adapter that supports 2×2 MU-MIMO.
