Amplifi Gamers Edition vs Google Nest vs eero
Ubiquiti Amplifi introduces Gamers Edition mesh wifi system – the Amplifi Gamers’ edition. How good it is compared with Google Nest and eero Pro?
Amplifi HD Gamers edition
At a glance, if you observe Amplifi gamers edition is almost the same as Amplifi HD, only the gamer’s edition color is polished with dark black while Amplifi HD is grayish white. Actually it is not the color problem that distinguishes Amplifi HD vs Amplifi Gamers edition, but there is an optimized designed for gamers for the gaming environment.
Optimized for gamers
What is the obstacle that most prevent gamers from playing online gaming smoothly without jittering? Of course the main constraint is high latency gaming performance. So that’s why Amplifi gamers edition is designed to be optimized for GeForce NOW QoS mode. Ubiquiti works closely with NVIDIA to realize high-quality internet networks with low latency for online gaming environment.
Most mesh wifi system products are not specifically designed for online gaming, although they are indeed designed for all connections ranging from streaming and online gaming to ordinary internet needs such as social media for mobile device connections.
- This product comes with mesh wifi router gamers edition plus two Amplifi Meshpoints
- Simultaneous dual band C1750 delivering total aggregated speeds of up to 5.25Gbps
- Wifi speeds up to 1,300Mbps @5GHz and up to 450Mbps @2.4GHz with 6 MIMO chains each router or meshpoint unit
- The router comes with one Gigabit WAN port and 4x Gigabit LAN ports, but the Meshpoint doesn’t come with Ethernet port
- The Meshpoint comes with signal strength LED indicator and adjustable high performance antennas with rotation capability up to 270 degree
- Optimized for NVIDIA’s GeForce cloud gaming platform to deliver low latency smooth online gaming performance
- Optional wired backhaul if all the three nodes are Amplifi routers
- Amplifi router comes with 1.6 inch color display for internet speed display
- Covers up to 10,000 sq ft
- No Ethernet port for Meshpoint, no option for wired backhaul when paired with Meshpoint. Most wall-plug model satellite come without Ethernet port

Amplifi Gamer vs Google Nest vs eero Pro
Now we will compare this Amplifi HD gamers edition with two other products that are popular in the market in 2020, namely Google Nest WiFi and Eero Pro mesh wifi system, how specs comparison to these three products go.
These three products are chosen from the configuration of each router paired with its satellite which functions like a mesh extender to increase signal coverage. Unlike Google Nest, both Amplifi HD and eero Pro are paired with wall-plug model satellite as extender.
All the three products with their satellites are designed with different wifi technology either dual or tri-band wifi technology. Both Amplifi router and Meshpoint satellite are designed with the same wifi technology – AC1750 simultaneous dual band. Each unit of either router or Meshpoint delivers 6 MIMO chains with 1x dual band antenna with Tri-polarity for best signal strength.
Google Nest router is designed with simultaneous dual AC2200, but the Nest point is based on AC1200 with each of the speeds is shown on table 1. One thing that makes Google Nest Point is different is that it comes with built-in voice control and high performance speaker and microphone. It’s like Amazon Alexa, so that’s why Amazon doesn’t sell two packs Nest that consists of Nest router and Nest point. It might be intended as Amazon’s Alexa competitor so that Amazon doesn’t sell Nest point in a two or three pack Google Nest.
The most popular eero brand is now acquired by Amazon. Under Amazon umbrella, the original eero is redesigned as Amazon eero and the price is cut significantly to compete in two band mesh products in the market. The eero pro is different; it’s a simultaneous tri-band wifi technology while the eero beacon as the wall-plug model satellite is based on AC1200. Either eero router or Eero beacon is based on 2×2 MU-MIMO technology.
Take a look at the following two spec comparison tables between the three products. Table 1 is for Amplifi vs Google Nest and table 2 is for Amplifi vs eero Pro.
